On the cheese trail in Australia

At the deli counter in Tesco on Saturday I had the following discussion:

Me:  “Excuse me, is this Murray Creek Australian cheddar mild, medium or mature?”

Blank look from shop assistant.

Me: “All of the other cheeses at the counter state if they are mild or mature, this one doesn’t have a sign…”

Deli assistant: “Some people say it’s strong, some say mature, it’s a matter of taste really.”

Me (muttered under breath): “Obviously taste comes into whether I’ll like it, strength normally comes because the flavour has been allowed to develop and mature, look it really doesn’t matter, it’s only 72p (and it has a spelling error on it) I’ll give it a go”.  *

*The cheese is mature by the way, should you ever decide to buy it.
